Levels in Check
A short, educational podcast about diabetes.
I’m the legal caretaker for my Nana, my grandfather. He has diabetes, and once a month I take him for his checkup at the hospital.
Month after month in that waiting room, I started noticing a pattern. Almost everyone there had diabetes. And it rarely came alone. It came with other illnesses, heart disease most of all.
The more I read, the clearer the problem got. India has one of the largest diabetic populations in the world, and the numbers keep growing. Most of it starts years earlier as insulin resistance: the body slowly stops responding to its own insulin, blood sugar creeps up, and nothing feels wrong until a lot has already gone wrong.
Most people only learn any of this after a diagnosis. I think basic education is where it has to begin: what insulin does, what resistance means, how food, sleep and movement change the numbers, and why it matters long before a test says so.
That’s why I made Levels in Check. Twenty-nine short episodes that explain diabetes in plain language, so anyone can understand it and keep their own levels in check.
